Woman's Knife
Though they are commonly known today as ‘blacksmith’s knives’, knives such as these are often termed in an historical context as ‘women’s knives’. Functional, no-nonsense domestic tools, as distinct from blades made for show, or to intimidate as a weapon. This example was forged from a large ‘Frost’ brand antique file, with a long blade which would function well as a carving knife, and look quite neat hanging above the hearth.
