Woodlands Forge is a small workshop and school offering a range of high quality heirloom knives and custom designs by artist/bladesmith Sam Ziegler. We are located in the Arc of Zen gallery on the island of Millowl (Phillip Island), on BoonWurrung Country, Australia, two hours drive south of Melbourne.

Simple bushcraft knife with a paracord wrapped handle. Made from an antique Nicholson U.S.A. file.
A stunning one of a kind Kwaiken. Hand forged from a billet of pattern welded tool steels with an 80CrV2 core, it has a wild chevron ladder pattern which compliments the tsukamaki paracord handle wrap.
A 4" drop point utility knife. The blade is hand forged from 1084 and 15n20 high carbon steel. The softly sculpted handle is stabilised Tasmanian Myrtle and dyed River Oak (Reclaim Creative), with a recycled stainless steel guard and nickel and G10 spacers.
The flat v grind blade has 100cm of cutting edge, and 3cm height at the heel. It is 3.5mm thick at the guard with an even distal taper to 1.5mm near the tip. The knife is 24.5cm long overall
A light general purpose chef knife with a dark Jungle theme. The blade is forged from salvaged high carbon tool steels (antique files, millsaw blade, bandsaw blades), pattern welded in a random pattern with nickel highlights. The slim sized handle is a composite of dyed and stabilised Karelian Birch, and Australian River Oak. The blade is 21.5 cm long, 5cm tall at the heel, the spine is 3mm thick tapering to 2mm. It has full flat grind. The knife is 34cm long overall.
A unique belt knife made from a wood dragon’s dream.
The carved blade is made of 200 layers of pattern welded reclaimed tool steel and nickel, with an antique file high carbon steel core.
The handle features antique folded coarse wrought iron bolster and pommel, heirloom fit to beautifully figured stabilized Lace Sheoak (Yandiwa).
The sheath is vintage cowhide, with kangaroo lace braiding on the seam.
